January 25, 2022 Meeting Minutes

Call to Order:  A Meeting of St Paul NAPS Branch # 104.

Meeting was held at Joseph’s Grill, 104 S Wabasha St. St Paul, MN on January 25, 2022. The meeting convened @ 6:40 pm with President, Rob Moore presiding.

Officers Present:  President, Rob Moore, Vice President, Steve Henjum, Secretary, Elizabeth “Izzy” Ortiz, Treasurer, John Junek, Trustee, Louis Soukey, and North Central Region Vice President, Dan Mooney. NDC Vice President, Patrick Bird was excused.

Guests Present: Elly Soukey, Auxiliary 

Members Present:  No members in attendance

Old Business:

  • Additions and corrections: None
  • Communications – discussion of sending memorials. Tabled until next meeting
  • Websites – still researching costs.
  • Newsletters – Office Max; cost of printing, folding, tabbing, and labeling. Check on postcards as well.
  • Social Media – Facebook page; change from public to private group and invite members to join.
  • Constitution and Bylaws – Board Meeting to be planned. Chair and Co-Chair, to make any changes whether they are strikeout and/or additions.
  • Upcoming Conventions
  • State – Quad State; Minnesota, Wisconsin, North Dakota and South Dakota

  • Legislative Training Seminar (LTS)

LTS was held by Zoom this year from 3/27/2021 – 3/29/2021

  • Discussion on compensation to those in attendance for LTS Zoom 2021
  • State members are being paid $15/hour per State President Lonnie Lincoln
  • Vice President, Steve Henjum made motion to paid those in attendance of Zoom 2021 $15/hour. Trustee, Louis Soukey 2nd motion. All in favor. Motion passed.
  • Unsure where LTS will be held for 2022; Zoom or Crystal Gateway in DC.
  • Upcoming meeting to discuss how many people to send
  • Check with Neil Baker the cost of vests (dark blue color)

New Business:

North Central VP, Dan Mooney discussed upcoming events.

  • Legislative Training Seminar (LTS)
  • Dates – March 27 through March 29, 2022, in Washington, DC
  • Registration Cost – $225 if before March 6, 2022, $300 from March 6 to March 13, 2022
  • North Area VP, Tammi Rimer – restrictions are in place

Regional Training Seminar

  • Dates – April 8 through April 9, 2022, in Indianapolis, IN
  • Registration Cost – $179; no registration $100
  • 650 Representation class

State Convention

  • Dates – June 10 through June 11, 2022, at Fair Hills Resort, Detroit Lakes, MN

National Convention

  • Dates – August 8 through August 12, 2022, in New Orleans, LA
  • Registration Cost – $165 must be registered by July 5, 2022
  • Committee – Submit nominees
  • Discussion of how many members to send and who to send.
  • The costs and member who will be attending events will be tabled until next meeting.

Legislative Training Seminar (LTS)

  • VP, Steve Henjum made motion to send up to 5 members
  • Trustee, Louis Soukey 2nd that motion.
  • Members were to be Steve, Izzy, John, Louis and Patrick.
  • Motion was voted on. All in favor. Motion passed. However, Steve and Izzy will no longer be available to attend. 

Central Regional Training

  • VP, Steve Henjum made motion to send up to 8 members.
  • Trustee, Louis Soukey 2nd that motion. ($535 estimated cost)
  • Motion was voted on. All in favor. Motion passed.

State Convention

  • St Paul Branch will be hosting.
  • VP, Steve Henjum made motion to send up to 6 members
  • Trustee, Louis Soukey 2nd that motion.
  • Motion was voted on. All in favor. Motion passed.

National Convention

  • VP, Steve Henjum made motion to send up to 7 members.
  • Trustee, Louis Soukey 2nd that motion.
  • Attendees will include the 5 officers and 2 members.
  • Motion was voted on. All in favor. Motion passed.
